Terms & Condition of Cargo to Nepal

Terms & Conditions of Cargo to Nepal

Terms & Conditions of Cargo to Nepal. It would be best if you read before filling out the form. Please have a look below. It's the same for Air Freight as well.

1. Sending more than 1 TV:

Accordingly, to Nepalese custom, only one TV allows as a Gift or Personal Effects Shipment. If you have more than one TV, you must send another person's name; this will be a separate shipment, and all cargo and handling charges will be separated. For the rest of the world, please check customs rules.

2. Fragile Items:

Usually, we take care properly of fragile items at our best level. However, it must book at the shipper's risk. And they are responsible for fragile packing with marks at their own cost. Contact professional packers if you cannot, as no airline or Courier Company takes responsibility.

3. Packing Instructions

It's your responsibility to secure packing for all your goods. It can be suitcases or travel bags, but they must lock or cardboard boxes securely covered with tape. Please do not use any laundry or Jaffa bags as the airline's unacceptable. In case of use, these must be covered with shrink wrap. We advise Shrink wrapping or covering with cling film the whole of your shipment during the wet and rainy season, as airlines don't accept wet cargo and will not take any responsibility for the damage. We will charge you a minimum of £10 per box or bag if not as above.

4. Volume weight and Volume Reduction:

The volumetric weight of a shipment is a calculation that reflects the density of a package. A less dense item generally occupies more volume of space in comparison to its actual weight. Therefore, the volumetric or dimensional weight will calculate and compare with the shipment's actual weight to ascertain which is greater; that will calculate the shipment cost. The formula for calculating volumetric weight is length x width x height (cm)/6000.

Volume Reduction

If a box has a limit of 30 kg and you put only 10-12kg in that box, then the airline will charge 30kg, not 10-12kg. Simultaneously, sending duvets, pillows, soft toys & so on takes more space than the actual weight. So the best way to reduce your shipment's volume weight is to buy vacuum bags, put everything that is not fragile as a duvet and pillows etc., in a bag, suck the whole air with a vacuum cleaner and seal it. After that, pack it in a box or suitcase. Would you mind not trying this procedure on Fragile, sentiments or Extra value items?

5. Destination contact details

You need to provide it at the time of booking. At the same time, we may not accept any reservation without a destination phone number. All claims and complaints about delay or storage charges incurred will not entertain. Typically, mobile phone numbers are not an acceptable form of the destination phone number.

6. Customs clearance:

All airport handling and customs duties need to pay at the airport directly or through your agent. All receiving persons (consignees) must arrange their agents for customs clearance, as our destination staff will not be involved in this procedure. And we don't take any responsibility for any illegal activities during customs clearance by the receiver or your agent at the destination. If the receiver has travelled to the UK and wants to collect the shipment, you can declare it as Personal Effects, but you must clear it within 20 days of arrival. In that case, they can get a discount on customs duties. But there is no duties or tax waiver for cargo to Nepal. Below charges are only for guidelines. Maybe, Customs Duties on Dutiable Items will have to pay tax and customs duties if you book commercial quantity items as personal Effects Shipment. You may also need to pay an agent fee if you hire any for customs clearance of your shipment.

Only for the guideline

It might be less or more. All following charges of none dutiable items may apply in Nepal. Minimum Ground Handling and custom clearance charges apart from duties at Kathmandu airport.

  • Up to 50kg       - NPR. 5000-7000
  • 60kg to 100kg - NPR. 8,000-12,000
  • 110kg to 200kg - NPR. 13000-18,000

Does the reciever need to pay customs for Charity /  NGO Shipments?

The reciever must first make a custom waiver (custom free / Tax Waiver) letter from the Customs office of Nepal even though you are sending or receiving it for charity, NGO, or the government of Nepal. Once they make a letter, only after that process the cargo. So that they will not charge; otherwise, they will charge as usual.

7. Personal effects shipments are duty-free

Usually, Personal effects shipments are duty-free in many countries, but you need to pay Ground Handling charges. Therefore, you don't need to hire an agent to release personal effects shipments for many countries. Instead, you can do it yourself. However, if your consignee is sending gift items, commercial goods, or any other type of shipment, they will need to hire a customs broker, which can be found on the website by typing 'custom broker at' and the airport name. There are many customs broker's offices at all airports. The consignee can deal with any of them.

8. Identify your shipment:

Your delivery will be marked with an airway bill or consignment number, so the custom warehouse staff must identify your parcel at the destination. So, it's not the responsibility of our destination staff or any customs broker or agent worldwide.

9. Delay in Arrival:

In some circumstances, like in any act of GOD(Nature) or for the following reasons, airlines will not provide compensation in case of arrival delays at the destination. As all cargo is scheduled with passenger aircraft, there are some priorities in cargo categories. First, all airlines prefer passenger baggage, then Diplomat mail and Human Remains and perishable goods, and finally, there is dry cargo. If the dry cargo space is unavailable during busy periods, it will move to the next available flights.

10. Claim and Insurance:

All goods are insured according to IATA rules and regulations. However, if you have high-value items, please arrange goods in transit insurance online. In the case of damage or loss, the receiving party's responsibility is to obtain the damage or loss report before leaving the customs warehouse. Without this report, no claim can file with the airline, and the receiving party must make a claim directly with the airline at the destination.

Please note that a valuation form must complete, and payment must be made to take out standard liability cover according to IATA rules and regulations. We can also not offer any Standard Liability Cover on TVs and other Fragile items as these are entirely at the shipper's risk, even not airlines. So, to protect fragile items need to be created or professionally packed by the shipper. If you have declined Standard Liability protection for your shipment, our liability in case of loss or damage is limited per our Terms and Conditions.

11. Dispose of Goods:

We reserve the right to dispose of goods if you fail to pay the storage or invoice charges before the departure of your shipments.

12. Changes:

If you want to change the receiver name and any other details after the shipment is picked up, the CCA fee is GBP 70.00 for all amendments with Turkish Airlines.
